Auxiliary Fuel Tank

03-04-2017 11:11:11

I haven't posted here for a few years (since I sold my R44), but I recently purchased an R66 so I'm back in the Robinson family :-) Has anyone here installed the auxiliary fuel tank for the R66 yet? If so are you able to remove and install it yourself? I think its' supposed to be done by a helicopter mechanic/engineer but when I was at the Robinson safety course a few months ago their main engineer/maintenance guy said he had no problem with R66 owners removing and re-installing it themselves.

Sebastian - Thank you for posting about the turtlepac.. Are you able to remove it when not needed? Can you share what the cost was?

Thanks!

Hughes.

Your R66 needs to be of the eligible serial number for the Robinson aux tank to be installed. Older serial Helicopters do not have the structural support in the baggage compartment to accommodate the install. The aux tank is fairly simple to remove and install. Robinson gives special notes to make certain the the fuel hoses and fittings are properly capped after removal before flight.
