Ciao Franco, the EDM has a bidirectional communication with an external GPS, easy connection and compatible with most brands. The installation manual shows how to do it.
I took delivery of the heli at Torrance. It took me 18 days to fly to Santiago, 95 total hours.
Regarding the EDM as a diagnostic tool, it is superb. It is possible to immediately identify a faulty cylinder and then by analyzing the data, verify if it is a valve leaking/sticking or a spark plug or a magneto.
When checking the magnetos, it is also outstanding as you can check every and all cylinder EGTs at a glance and be completely sure if all of them are firing right.
The instrument can provide early warnings of impending problems. Sticking exhaust valves being one of them, faulty spark plugs, out of timing or faulty magnetos. As it is measuring different parameters, there is a far better chance to detect problems in advance.
I forgot to mention that the fuel flow function needs a fuel flow transducer to be installed between the gascolator and carburetor. Easy installation too.
