R22 Approved Engine Upgrade Data

03-23-2013 02:13:38

Hello To All,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of an STC relating to upgrading an early R22 150HP
O-320-A2D to the 160HP O-320-B2C? the actual conversion is very simple and has been done for years with the fixed wing Pipers and Cessna's, and we actually see a lot of these A2D's converted to the B2C but under no approved STC or documentation.

Any assistance or advice would be greatly received.

Regards,

Ben

Don't know the answer to your question, but I've seen the "Powerflow Exhaust" modification advertised for your some variations of your Copter.
I don't know anyone who has tried it, but it might be a different way to accomplish what you are trying to do?

Good luck.

According to the R22 manual Type Certificate Note 11 "Retrofit installations of the O-360-J2A engines may only be accomplished at the Robinson Company"
Oh and I talked to the factory and they do not perform the installations anymore.
