Did a formation flight with my buddies Citation SP 500 the other day to get videos of his bird. Very interesting.

Here is the link to the youtube video!

You are making great progress on your MD---great update!!!    ;D :D  As an X Deputy, I used to fly spotter in the Kern County Sheriff's 500---we had a ball catching bad guys----it was really a sports car helicopter!!!

I notice that you have a seriously customized panel.  The reason behind that?

Bahati -

I just like certain things....for example I added the EDM800 because I think running a helicopter powered by a piston engine on an oil temp gauge, a single CHT and an oil pressure gauge did not give me adequite visability nor tracking of my engine performance. The EDM800 gives me all 6 CHTs, all 6 EGTs, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, OAT, Volts, MP, hottest cyl, coldest cyl, % HP being used, fuel flow, hours/minutes fuel remaining at present power setting, fuel required to next waypoint, fuel required to destination and more at a glance. Plus it tracks all of this information and logs it every 6 seconds for me to download via a USB port on the front panel for tracking and trending of engine performance. To me that is a lot more valuable than say a single CHT, Oil Pressure and Oil temp gauge!

So I guess the reasons I customized the panel so much with everything is because I like the cool stuff I added and "I" feel that it provides value to "me".

Rich, how do you connect the audio to your video?  I recently bought a couple GoPro cameras that I hope to use (when the weather warms), and it would be nice to add the audio to it.  Great work with the Citation.  Nice countryside/oceanside.  Matt

Hi Matt -

I have a GoPro HD and I didn't think the cable was out yet for external audio input. Let me know if it is, I need to get one.

No, I haven't found a cable yet either.  My kid just edits my movies with background music at this stage.

Hi Matt

My understand from them is that they are working on a cable that will plug into the back label (where the LCD screen plugs in now) that will provide external audio input.

Hi Matt -

On the audio, I had a cable made up that connects to my intercom system. Its not perfect (as you can hear) but it works for what I do. The trick is the impedance matching. The cable I use has a 86K ohm resistor inline to drop to match the impedance from the Garmin 347 audio panel to my Sony camcorder.
