Replace R22 Aux Fuel Sender with Tank Installed ?

10-15-2013 02:51:18

We have a faulty aux fuel tank sender - is it possible to change it without removing the tank ? Looks a little close to the mast !

Thanks, Mark....

Yes, the senders can be replaced with out tank removal, refer to the MM.  I have changed a few, when you do change it though, it will have to be "calibrated", so it may have to go in and come out a few times to make "calibrated" bends in the sender arm.  The MM has the procedure to do it.

Yes i wasn't sure for the Aux Tank fuel sender which is much closer to the mast than the main. The MM procedure doesn't mention Aux or Main tanks so I wasn't sure if applied to both or was written for an installation with only 1 tank.

Just to be clear, they don't come straight out, you will have to be some "funky" maneuvering done to get it in and out, the sender float is pretty much the same diameter as the hole in the tank and of course the float arm is about foot long with bends in it.  I have had to partially remove the aux tank to make it easier.
