There is a good local shop to you Westcoast helicopters in Nanaimo , I just bought a clipper from them in dec it had a 12 year commercial inspection done by them , it only had 400 hours at that time so it made sense to do that going that option is about 70 to 80 thousand cheaper than the 2200 hour and still leaves the ship able to fly commercially , you can go for a 12 year private inspection it is around 40 to 50 thousand Canadian plus the rotor blades about 60 thousand Canadian right now so for around 100 thousand you could re certify it to fly privately , with 1800 hours it makes no sense for you to do a commercial 12 year you would be bettor of with the 2200 hour .
There is a big dispute over whether or not you can just replace the time lifed components and fly according to the CARS regs you can but the transport Canada inspectors say otherwise , its all fine until you have an accident and they come after you , its the extra 40 to 50 thousand you have to pay to comply with that pull the gear boxes clutch etc for inspection by Robinson .
Give me a call if you want more info I had spent a lot of time trying to figure all this out
